Olympics
is the greatest sporting festival in the world and the world's largest hobby is
stamp collection. On the occasion of XXXI Olympiad or 2016 Rio Olympic Games to
demonstrate these two great activities an exhibition on Sports and Olympic
through philately is organized at Bengaluru GPO with the support of Department
of Posts. Collections of Shri TN Prahlada Rao, Shri Jagannath Mani, Shri Vijay
Kumar, Master Vineeth and Master Harpith have been exhibited in 20 frames which
includes Stamps on Olympic Games from 1896 to 2012. The exhibition is a tribute
to Shri TN Prahalad Rao a Senior Olympic Stamp Collector. Exhibition was
inaugurated by Dr. Shivaram, Chief Postmaster, Bengaluru GPO on 5th August
2016. On the occasion local philatelists, Shri B. D. Chari, ASP, Bengaluru,
Shri Prasad, Shri Murali, Philately Councilor and other staff members of
Department of Posts were present.
Exhibition
will remain open from 5th to 21st August 2016 between 10 AM to 5 PM.
